Hero's Tale

There she was our hero, our saviour, our warrior.  How she survived nobody knows.  But she’s there, Alive.  Just.

She walking into town covered in cuts and gashes still bleeding, her sword still dripping blood, from the terrors’ that she just slayed.  She can't believe her eyes, she was unaware of this surprise but it’s the least we can do, she has saved us, unknowingly but still saved us.  The town cheers upon her arrival.  People celebrating, wanting to shake hands of the woman who just free us from the evil.  She looks confused, and exhausted.  Her chest is heaving, she still trying to catch her breath; her body is still shaking from the adrenaline.  How she survived only god knows, but the fact she did is a blessing on us all.

The further she gets into town the more people rally round her, all smiling all cheering.  A little girl walks up to her and shyly states "when I'm older I want to be like you, a hero" and runs back to her daddy.

If only she know, the warrior thought, "if only she knew my pain, my anger and my anguish.  If only that little girl knew what I've been through.  No I wouldn't burden her with it.  Let her dream.  That girl deserves to grow up in peace.  At least now I know she is safe."

The story of our warrior didn't start like this.  This wasn't her life, life wasn't meant to be like this.  She was a wife, a new wife just married to a handsome man.  They wanted to start a family, settle down, and have a garden.  All the things she dreamt off.  The wedding day was spectacular, the entire village celebrated with them, food and drink flowed and no expense was spared.  It was a celebration for the masses.  But those dreams got snatched away.  Her husband disappeared.  She asked around if people seen him, went to the local law enforcement but people started acting like he didn't exist. The more she asked the more people shunned her and showed her away, she turned into a hermit.  Avoiding the village as much as she could and only going out the get supplies.  Then one day she received word, a note was pushed under her door.  She opened the door but couldn't see the sender so she picked it up to read it.

"Help....

I'm at the mountains"

There was no name just those words, but she knew the handwriting.  It was her husbands.  She quickly huddled together what she could grabbing food and clothes and anything of use and left her house.

Three day into her mission walking along a footpath, a group of outlanders see her and start taunting her.  They making quick remarks and trying to grab her, at first it was just a nuisance and she tried to carry on with her walk then it turned dark, they were still on her, they wouldn't leave her alone.  There taunts turned to threats the grabs turned to little slaps and punches.  This wasn't a game she feared for her safety.  She spun around to yell at them but was overtaken.  She was on the floor pushed down into the mud.  They have tied her up and was dragging her towards there camp.  She was at the camp for days with no food or water, morning beatings until she submits to them, they wanted to break her spirit and it was working.  The leader walked in.  You will serve us for food he said at which she bowed her head.  That was it she was now their slave.  They would beat her and throw stuff at her.

For the first few days she does their bidding.  Not speaking unless spoken too and keeping out of sight.  She cooked she cleaned till she was sore and hurts.  She only went to sleep when told and made sure she was up before them so breakfast was ready.  She did exactly what she was told.  They worked her to the bone and then worked her some more.  She was tired but there was a fire in her.  A fire that told her to wait, to have Patience, she knew that by waiting for the right moment nature and the world would provide her with an answer.

And it did two weeks later, while working cleaning their clothes in a river she found a berry bush, one filled with poisonous berry.   She carefully took some and hid them in her pocket.  They were still holding her in there undercover camp.  She got up one morning very early, earlier than she ever woke before; she starts to make their breakfast.  She starts by crushing the berry and mixing them with water to for a drink then continues to make their breakfast ready for them to awake.

They wake so hungry they devour the food, not noticing what they are eating and drinking, they demand her to clean up and after they March onto the next village pulling her along, a dangerous trail. Hours pass and she wonders if the berry will ever work till finally one man collapses, and then another till the strongest man drops to his knees, he looks at her right in the eye and spits blood at her feet  "you did this" he hisses with his final breath.  He head slowly falls to the floor.

Finally free she leaps into action, stealing their weapons to help defend herself if she need too.  She will not let something like this happen again.  She was no stranger to weapons she had used them in the past so she knew she could protect herself if she needed too.

She notices the supply same still short she has only basic rations, so she continues along the pass till she gets to the next town.

On the way she comes to a farm, she enquires about a job so she can buy some food but the only job available is to kill the thing that's been eating the livestock, she takes the role and does a stake out, but she's feeling weak and tired.  Through the night nothing happens and dawn is approaching so she eats her remaining supply, she needs this to work.  The next night the farmer offers her a meal before she has to stake out again.

Feeling refreshed and up for it she finds a better hiding place and waits  a few hours pass nothing, just ands she was about to give up a gigantic wolf appears at least 7 foot high, ragged look, ears chewed and fur missing, it has many scars over him, he looks like he's been in the wars.  She doesn't realise that she staring at least not him she’s standing in sheer awe of this beast has temporary shocked her.  He spots her at least not and goes to at least don't tack, she wasn't ready but manages to dodge his at attack.  She pulls her sword and waits for the wolf to pounce again, his teeth glaring and snapping at her, he leaps into the air as she swings her sword. She misses but the wolf’s claws scrap across her shoulder. Blood is pouring down her arm and chest.  She tightens her grips and ready herself again, the wolf mouth is open drool is running from his teeth, he can smell her blood and he's excited, he jumps forward going for a bite but she blocks with her sword and cuts his mouth.  The wolf howls in pain and backs off, she runs forwards and strikes again this time and the sword pushes into his chest, the wolf falls to the floor and is wounded bad, with one final blow it's over,   The wolf is dead.

In the morrow the farmer a process, he can see the beast on the floor and smiles, he's livestock is safe and rewards her plenty.  She protests over the amount and greatly just takes what she needs.  She is able to buy supplies to keep her on her journey, he offers to fix her up as she don't take all the money, that she accepts and just before she leaves they hug as she vows to return.

After leaving the farm she e sides that a short cut is needed and knows of town just beyond a cave and before the mountains.  She doesn’t know if it's true but thinks there's no harm in looking.  After an hour of walking the cave was not hard to find, there was signs leading the way so it must be a common short cut.  The signs did not show of the dangers that the cave holds.

She walks in the further she goes in the darker it becomes. As she walks her hands are held outright the stop her from crashing into rocks.  Her shoes are cracking on what can only be small rocks.  It feels like the ground is moving as she walks.  The further in the worse the ground in it feels like her feet are sinking in rocks; it's so dark now she can't see anything.  The rocks are more clustered he hands can feel the jagged edges of the rocks in from of them.  They are becoming wet, the smell seems to become ionised, metallic, there's a sound, she can barely make it out she edges closer the sound slowly becoming louder, and it sounds like crying. She follows the wet rocks there's a light glowing in the background.  That's where she needs to go; she needs to get to the light.  Her surrounding is becoming lighter and she stops to let her eyes adjust.  The smell is stronger as she leaned on a rock her hand slips, she looks at it, that’s not water, and she looks to the floor, bones hundreds of bones and skulls and, over the floor.    Some bones still attached to other limbs some hands still, holding onto their weapons.  Some look so old they are crumbling away, she looks at her hands again covered in red blood.  The iron smell is blood.

She panicking now cause of the crying.  And rushes towards the light, there hunched in a corner a little girl, clothes ripped, sobbing into her torn dress.  She runs up to her and kneels by her side.  The girl stops crying turns to face her and leaps onto her snarling showing her teeth.  This girl is not human.  Those are not human teeth they are sharpened teeth, the girl skin is pale are and scaly.  Her eyes are huge with a red black tint, perfect for seeing in the dark, her name, s are like daggers and her hind legs are that of a werewolf.  Her feet are longer than normal and her back is hunched.  She reacts just in time and pushes her to the ground using a knife to kill her before a battle could start.  As she turns she surrounded by them. At least 10 of them, she pulls her sword tights and slays 4 of them but is trapped by the rest.  As the move closer she kicks the fire and runs. She can hear the cries and can her them running but she can see the exit.  She will survive.

Running towards the exit she spots a narrow turning. Narrow enough for just her she runs into it but it has no end, she’s trapped and they are in front of her only exit.  She draws her sword again and stabs the first on in the heart. It's pushed away by another being, she stabs this one too, from this point she's able to pick them off one by one without getting a scratch.  Then they stop coming she waits for a while before she emerges from her hole.  As she does she uses her sword to look around first, nothing there she must of got them all, she counts the bodies, theses five, plus her four from earlier that makes nine,  maybe she miss counted.  She comes out slowly, it's quite its fine, she begins to walk towards the exit and she feels a sharp pain against her back, like five knives slashing her, she spins with sword in hand and slices and being behind her.  Ten she thinks, bloody ten.

As she emerges from the cave it's late the stars and moon are shinning in the sky, four men are waiting for her, she reads her sword but she knows she too exhausted to fight, but they bag her to lower it, they tell her they are her welcome party.  Confused she says you must have somebody else but they disagree and Insist that she follows they to their village not far from the cave.  She goes only because that's where she was going anyway.  As they approach they run off in front of her, tired and with blood still dripping from her sword, and cuts and gashes, she walks into town.  She can hear us cheering and smell the food; we are celebrating her, for what she did to the cave beings.  We tell her that they eat the people from the village, and that we were in the middle of an attack when they went running back.  That must have been when she killed the girl.

We let her tidy herself up and rest in their hotel, All,  free of charge, we tried to give her money but she decides it all, and tells us everything that happened in the cave, all of which was meet with woos and gasps.  She tells us about her missing husband and we tell her about some of our missing men who also went up the mountain.  We desire that she should go alone and some of the town folk volunteer to go with her in a few days.  She must be fighting fit for that mountain it's not a easy climb so we insist she rests well and eats well the next few days while we sort out some new clothes for her.

A few days past she's well rested but fears she has been too long, she worries about the state she might find her husband in, and we as a team assure her that he will be fine, our families are up there too, we tell her that we are sure they are protecting each other, but this does not ease her worry.  Together we set off, the mountain is not far from our village at all so we get there with time to spare. The mountain had a trail that lead up a tiny way so we shall take that; from there we shall have to climb.  The trail Leads up to an herb with grows in abundance on the mountain.  It's very powerful and helps with healing so we use grab some on the way.  Just in case.   I try to reassure her.

The trail ends and we gave what herbs we can. As we start to climb the footing was better than we anticipated which made our lives so much easier, hope was growing amongst us and I even saw our hero cracking a smile.  But then things made a terrible turn.

About half way up the mountain we found what we were looking for, our families and her husband, frozen in terror. The last look on their face looked like they was seeing apart from her husband, his face looked in pain, his leg strapped up, this is what he meant by help, his leg was defiantly broken.  Their bodies preserved in ice forever, their last emotion in an endless expression. Many their eyes always showing fear.  Some of our team turned a ghostly white, they could not take in what they were seeing, I was one of those.  But our hero, she just sat next to her husband and wept.  Wept uncontrollably non-stop for what seemed like forever.  We let her be.  When she stopped she agreed we should go back we will return for the departed a other day, not today she couldn't do today.  She asked if it would be alright to start a fresh in our town.  We smiled and said that's what we thought you were doing, which made her smile a little.

Feeling disappointed and sad we embarked on our journey back.  Our hero kept looking back and when we said we shall return tomorrow, she said she had the feeling of being followed.  We took a few steps and then I felt it too.  We both turned round and saw something I shall never forget, blue smooth skin, round flat feet with big toes, silver eyes, big round teeth and white tuft of fur on its chest.  It looked like it smiled.  The rest of our team stops and turned round.  The hero and I slowly tried to step back to whisper to run but they ran forward hoping to take it down. I looked at the hero in terror and could tell she was scared.  They hit it with their swords d they didn't even cut his skin.  This being was tough.  It opened its mouth and blew a steel of ice onto the town folk, freezing them solid.  I loved at the hero and screamed at her to run but as she turned I watched her skin freeze.  This being was fast.  I stood frozen to the spot unable to move.  I was so scared.  Eventually the being moved and I was able to get away.  While I finally made it back onto the path I cried.  I ran and I cried till I made it back to town.

I explained everything and a few more me went up the mountain to bring back our dead, much to my protest.  Our town has been waiting weeks for them to return.

The Night Bus

Sara stumbled onto the bus intoxicated from an after work party, "Sorry" she mumbled to the driver and flashed her travel card as she swayed her way to slump into a seat.  She wanted to go home a while ago but they weren’t having it, she knew she wouldn't hear the last of it if she did leave early so she stayed.  It wasn't all bad she actually had a really good time and secretly she was glad she stayed out, it’s just this horrid bus home.  She is normally the last one on here due to her house being at the last stop, but tonight, even after the good evening she didn't seem right, she felt dizzy and tired, so she shut her eyes for a few seconds in hope to ease the dizziness.  Never again she whispered to herself as she gentle drifted off to sleep.

Oh no, she whispers to herself, was I asleep? The bus is still going I wonder where we are.  I don't recognise any of this area.  I know this whole route, oh damn where are we.

The bus stops and a shadowy figure walks’ onto the bus, Sara can’t work out what his face looks like but she notices he’s carrying a bunch of flowers with him.  As he turns to sit he drops the flowers, Sara rushes over to help, and in all honestly she just wants a better look at his face.  She picks up the flowers and hand them to him, he doesn't even address her, so she just leave them on the set next to him, just taking him for a rude old man and walks back to her seat.

A little while later and strangely the next stop, a teenage boy gets on with his dog.  He looks quite dirty and he’s covered in blood like he’s been fighting, but its dried blood like it been there a while, he looks really slim too.  He walks past ignoring everybody and just listening to his music, the only thing that he seems to be interested is his dog.  Then he sits quietly at the back of the bus.

The bus blacks out for a moment the lights flicker for a second, Sara thought she saw the shadow figure staring at her, but as the light came back on he was still looking forwards, it looked like he hasn't moved at all, must have been her imagination. But the bus has stopped again this time picking up a man and his boy.

The man seemed to be a young dad about thirty two and the child was about six.  They looked so cute, they were wearing their favourite sport team shirts, and they looked like they were going to a game.  The boy was holing a teddy obviously a mascot of some kind, as they walked passed Sara the boy dropped it, Sara picked it up to hand back to the boy but the bear just went straight through him.  In a panic Sara drops the bear and the boy picks it up and runs towards his dad, who picks him up and cuddles him tightly.

The bus seems to be going at some speed, lights from the outside just rush past and it doesn't look like this bus will be stopping any time soon.  Sara slumps into her chair trying to hide from the shadow man who is really giving her the creeps.  It seems like only a couple of minutes have past but as she looks out the window they seem to be in a completely different area.  The bus comes to a jerking stop; Sara bumps her head on the chair in front of her.

The shadow man stands up and walks towards the door holding the flowers.  The doors thrust open and the shadow man turns to Sara before he walks of the bus. He walks towards woodland area, but doesn't seem to go in straight away.  He turns again looking at the driver who just nods at him.  Almost like he’s telling him it will be alright, the show man lays the flowers at a tree, and then seems to disappear.  The bus starts to move once more.

Sara couldn't believe her eyes.  Did she blink?  Did she miss something?  Its late she’s had a hard night, she just wants to get home.  But the lights flicker again.

Again the bus seems to be moving at some speed, how nobody else can see this.  This time the bus stops again with a jerk outside a sports stadium.  The dad and the boy walk towards the door as the door open, the driver says something but Sara misses it.  The man gets off first then turns to lift the boy off the bus, lifting him to his shoulders where the boy sits, both seem to be cheering.  As they walk towards the stadium they slowly disappear together, leaving only the teddy, which drops to the floor with a bounce.

The bus moves again, not far this time.  It stops in a shopping town by a row of shops. The teenage boy gets off with his dog, nothing was said this time, not that he could hear, he still had his earphones in.  The teenage walks towards a doorway and sits down stroking his dog which lay down next to him.  The bus seemed like it was waiting for something to happen, Sara looks at the driver again she’s the only one on here.  But he was just looking at the boy.  As Sara turns round the boy seems to be fading away to nothing, but then almost straight afterwards the dog fades too.

What is going on Sara’s thinking, I'm so confused I just want to go home.

She thinks she should speak to the driver and walks towards the front of the bus. "Excuse me driver, what is happening?" she asks.

The driver just points to a sign that reads - do not disturb the driver while the bus is in motion.  To which Sara returned to her seat.

The bus was again going at speed until it stops again to pick up a woman who was smartly dressed up seemed in a bad way, her hair was a mess and her shirt was hanging out; she was sobbing silently trying to hold in the tears.  An old couple also go on the bus slightly up the road, they was holding hands and seemed to be oddly happy.

As they found their seat Sara thought that these would be the best people to ask what is currently going on.  The old man just gave her the biggest smile she had ever seen and said "don't worry child, your stop will come.  Just have patience" and turn to look at his wife once more.

The bus sets off again, Sara sitting in her seat looking out the window, what the hell did that mean.  I'm so confused.  I don't want to be here, I want to be at home.  Sara getting really frustrated and walks to the driver one more time.

"SIT DOWN" he barks at her and points to the sign again.

The Bus stopped. It appears it shouldn't have stopped where it did, everybody seemed panicky.  "Please stay seated, I'll get us out of here, please remain calm until I do and don't panic” The driver said, but you could hear a slight tremor in his voice.  Even he seems scared.

Just then the windows start to rattle and banging on the roof starts.  The noise was deafening.  The driver opens the door so he can take a look around and two long black arms reach into the bus and pulls him out.  They are now officially stranded.  The door close and the lights go out.  Darkness starts to consume the bus, the couple just hold each other in their arms and the woman is rocking to and fro, whispering to herself.  A feeling of emptiness floods the bus, Sara no longer cares, she feel drained, she feels like this is the end and she’s ready for it.  But then something comes over her she stand up shuts all the Windows to stop the darkness seeping in any more.  The feeling to help these people, these strangers, overwhelms her.  She needs to help them somehow.  She has an idea she going to drive the bus away, drive away from the darkness.  She asks where they want to go and then drive home afterwards.  So what of the police come, yeah it steeling but she needs to do something.  Sara runs towards the front of the bus and jumps into the driver seat. But the bus won’t start, there are keys, there’s everything she needs, why won’t it go.  Bloody hell just starts will you Sara whispered begging the bus, please.  But nothing happens.  Looks like they are just going to stay here and wait for help.  The noise is still going Sara can't even hear herself thing. She curls up into a ball, hoping it will stop.

Everybody is on the verge of exploding, their heads fill full to the brink and she can't take any more.  Sara lets of a scream.  Then everything stops.  The darkness clears and a new driver is standing there at the door.  He’s younger than the one before, he looks about thirty but he’s skin is dry and looks aged.  The doors open and he walks on smiling and calls "all aboard".

A man on a skateboard gets on, he has no legs, and he just pulls himself along with his arms.  He nods at the driver and finds a lace to sit.

The driver looks around the bus and sees the old couple still holding each other. "I know where you're going" then sees the crying girl and smiles "i know just the place for you too".  Then he turns to Sara, "Hmmmmm".

The legless man smiles and asks "what about me".  The driver smiles, "alright there Terry, travelling again, can you not do right from wrong" and they both laugh.  The driver takes hes seat and the bus starts.

We travel for a while, Sara notices the bus is no longer picking people up.  He seems to be driving passed many people.  Bus just brushes this thought off, she obviously has no idea what this bus is doing, and she just hopes that it will get to her stop soon.

"First stop cemetery" the bus driver yells.  The old couple stand up and walk off the bus, like before the bus seems to wait till they go.  Sara watches them walk towards the chapel of rest, they stand at the doorway still holding hands, they kiss each other and they both fade away.  The bus is on the move again.

The lights flicker and the bus moves at speed again.  They are in a town now and the bus stops outside a tube station.  The driver turns to the woman smiles and says "we're here".  she gets up and walks to the door, the driver whispers "It's OK now" which causes the girl to sniff, she smiles and walks off the bus right into the tube station.  Sara can't see if she vanishes as she just blended into the crowd of commuters.

The mood on the bus changed after that woman left the bus; it was just Terry the driver and Sara on the bus.  The whole time the driver was moving the bus Terry didn't take he’s eyes off Sara.  This journey seemed the longest it seemed like the Driver just made it long on purpose.  When he finally stopped the bus, the driver walked towards Sara, as he passed Terry it was like a cue for Terry to follow him.

"You shouldn't be here.  You’re too fresh” The driver snarled.  The biggest smile grew on Terry's face, "I love fresh meat, and I'm in need for new legs".  Sara panics she has nowhere to run and Terry is edging towards her with every breath.  She kicks the skateboard and he rolls backwards, she then pushes the Driver to the floor, he lands on Terry with a thug, while she jumps passed them and runs to the door lever.  She pulls it but nothing happens, the door doesn't open.

"Don’t you know, you can't leave till you’re at your stop, darling".  The driver yells as he and Terry are still trying to sort themselves out.  She runs past them again pushing them down again, she running for the door, at the back of the bus, nothing again.  She hides at the back of the bus, and pulls her legs into her chest.

She can hear Terry's wheel squeaking as them come closer, "There's nowhere to hide" he sneers.

The lights go out.

The squeaking stops, in fact Sara can't hear anything.  But silence.

She shuts her eyes begging, crying, and praying.  Please.

Then a bright light fills the bus, almost blinding everybody on it.  She can hear Terry and the Driver moaning about their eyes, then footsteps.  Something cold touches her arm "She's mine" Yells Terry.  Then she heard him cry out in pain, His arm no longer touching her arm.   Her eyes still closed. She too scared to open them, a warm touch.  She slowly opens her eyes.  A being, pretty and glowing whispers to her "You're safe now, you weren’t meant to be here".  Finally help.

The driver stands to stop them leaving, but the being pushes him, he doesn't move.  It tries again, once more he doesn’t move.  This time the driver pushes forwards and the being falls to the floor.  As soon as they drop Terry is on top of it.  He’s biting, scratching, punching.  He rips of the being limbs and put them on where he’s legs would be.  Smiling he looks at the driver and runs off the bus.  The driver is laughing, then stops suddenly and looks at the girl “Your mine now".

He walks to the driver’s seat again and starts the bus.  He doesn’t drive for long, but they end up facing a long dark endless tunnel.  There is no light in there at all.  It’s just pure darkness.  He pulls her off the bus "you know why you are still fresh?" he asks.  Sara doesn't reply.  "You are still alive somewhere" he adds.  Sara just looks at him, Shocked, Horror.  What!!!!!

"And the live ones always come with me” He pushes Sara to the front of the bus and manages to push her off it then yanks her to the front of the tunnel.  Two long arms come out the dark tunnel. "Ooh, he's fishing" the driver laughs and pushes Sara towards the dark opening.
"Welcome home" was the last thing Sara heard as the arms dragged her into the dark abyss.

The next day at Sara office all everybody could talk about was what was on the news this morning.  The police are looking for a bus driver who attacked a young lady after a night out.  He left her and the bus stranded.  The girl is currently in a coma awaiting a response.

Emily Part 10 (the end, hence the length)

You’re all liars, Emily screamed at the top of her lungs.  She began thrashing her knife.  She was erratic.  She has lost all control.  Dal moved forward feeling that he could restrain her, but the knife struck him.  It slashed his face, blood was pouring from his cheek.  Emily feeling a rush lashed at him again.  This time it was critical.  Right in the jugular, that caused Dal to fall to the floor instantly.  With he's last bit of energy he looked at Jessica and smiled.  Jessica panicked and rushes toward Dal but Emily made a grabbed for her and pushed her up against the wall.

You caused this.  You’re a liar.  You did this and now you will know pain.  Emily dragged her by her hair to the kitchen.  Jessica screaming, kicking her feet and using her hand to grab onto anything to delay the unknown terror in the kitchen.  But it was no good.  Emily was stronger than she looked.  Her eyes have gone crazed and then all Jessica felt was pain, full on pain right between her eyes.  When the pain past Jessica could feel a warm liquid on her face at first she thought Emily might of poured something on her face but it wasn't it was just blood, her blood.  Emily had struck her.  She went to move her arms but found she couldn't move them.  Emily has tied her to the chair.

Cup of tea, Emily asked. Better now before then men come.

What cried Jessica, No I don't want a tea and what men? Let me go, please, Emily, I wasn't lying, what they did to you was terrible.  Mark should never have cheated on you.  They should never have given you drugs to control you.  You weren’t crazy, you were hurt, I understand.  At this point Jessica would say anything just to be free.

What you talking about hunny, they did it for my own good, now how about this tea, Emily replied.

Jessica noticed she was still holding the knife.  OK, Jess said Tea would be good; you need to free my arms so I can drink it.

Don't be silly, I'll feed it to you, then she poured boiling water over Jessica head.  How’s that. Sorry do you take sugar, One or two? It’s too sweet for me, I'm sweet enough, and Emily said laughing at her own joke. As she dreamily spooned sugar on Jessica's burned head.

The scream was deafening.  But Emily didn't wince.  Tea is lovely, Emily said, it’s one of my favourite things, and she Begin to dance around the kitchen. Then she leaped forward, right into Jessica's face. You know what else was my favourite thing.  My mark, where is he?  She was pulling Jessica's hair back so Jess could see right into her eyes.

I don't know, Jessica cried.  Please I don't know. Please, she begged.

You know what I hate.....Liars, and you are the queen of them.  I think you and Mark was together.  Where is he? Emily asked calmly.

You killed him, Jessica spat. You did.  It was all over the news.

Emily anger grew and she turned the knife on Jessica.  But the door opened.  Shit they're here, she whispered, and went back into the living room leaving Jessica in the kitchen.  Three hooded men have entered the flat.  Two of them rushed forward but Emily managed to dodge them and stabbed the man standing at the door.  But he didn't fall, who are you? She screamed.

They didn't answer they just stood there looking at her.

Answer me, she screamed at them, answer me!

Jessica started crying feeling the end was near.  Nobody is going to make it out of here, she sobbed silently, she couldn't see what was going on she couldn't hear anything.

Emily walked towards the men, who are you? Talk to me!  Why won’t you say anything, and she lashed forwards, the knife struck again, it was a direct hit, again nothing happened.

Say something, she screamed, again no answer.

Jessica started screaming for help from the kitchen.  A last desperate attempt to save her own life, Emily ran back to the kitchen like a crazy person.  Shut up, she screamed right into Jessica’s face, and then started mumbling.  Why won’t they talk....you talk, why won’t they?  She turned to Jessica why won’t they talk? She screamed

Who won’t talk, Jessica said back....

What! Can’t you see them?  Tricky, Emily said. Very tricky

The men were at the kitchen door, get back Emily shouted.  Get back or I'll kill her.  Jessica started crying.  She still couldn't see the men but noticed Emily was backing away from the door.

Emily backed off, screaming but the men just came closer.  She dropped to the floor crying and loosened her grip on the knife. she kicked her feet out it pushed the knife further away from her and closer to Jessica, not that it was any use.

Why won’t they talk, they just keep walking forward, Emily wailed between her sobs.

Jessica stopped crying to notice Emily change in behaviour, she started lashing out, started kicking out while shouting at air.  The Emily stopped and withdrew into herself; she tucked herself into a little ball and just cried silently.  Then Jessica heard a commotion coming from the living room, the police have finally arrived.

In here Jessica shouted.

As soon as the police walked into the kitchen, Emily stood up and ran for them.  Please help us these three men attacked me and my friend and gestured to where the men stood,  Jessica still tied to the chair look at where she was pointing, nobody was there even the  police couldn't see the three men and looked at each other puzzled.

Emily took a step back and said cant you see them?

No an officer replied, but let us help you; there's a doctor on his way.

What, Emily said; I don't want a doctor she said calmly.  I don't need one and leaped onto the police officer scratching and hitting like a lunatic.  All the police officers grabbed her and dropped her to the floor. They handcuffed her and pushed her out the door.  One officer stayed behind and helped Jessica free.  She explain the whole thing, told them everything that happened.

At the police station Emily seemed more relaxed, and helped the police with their investigation she was found not guilty due to insanity and put into care.

Jessica tried to return back to normal life, and was doing OK then one night, in bed she saw three hooded men.  One of them spoke.  Jessica, we are here to collect you, you need to finish paying your boyfriends debt, he didn’t finish what he was supposed to, he let us down and then died.  You need to finish where he left off, and they started walking towards the bed.
